I'm considering selling at Urbindimo, but what is this consignment thing and how does it work?

Consigning is a great way of getting your goods seen by a wider audience, or different market, as your product is showcased side by side with other designers, in an established shop. Consignment takes away the hassle and upkeep of a store, for example, we take care of all the order fulfillment, listing, advertising, packing and customer service work for you. You simply send your goods to us, with the retail priced specified by you and we'll do the rest. Our customers are waiting, all we now need now is your talent!

How much will you sell my work for?

You set the price and we stick to it! It's that simple.

Do you charge a fee?

Yup, we charge a consignment fee of 40% of the retail price. However we only receive this fee upon the sale of your item(s), so you pay nothing until your item is sold. This 40% covers all the tedious stuff we do to get your product sold, such as taking pictures, listing your item in the store, translating your descriptions, and advertising in different languages, packing your items up nicely and shipping them out to your customers, plus the overhead costs of website upkeep, taxes, shipping and other fees (e.g. Paypal fees). So while we are taking care of all this extra work, you'll have more time to do your designing, and creating.

How do I get paid?

At the end of each month your sales will be tallied and your money will be sent to you via check or paypal, your choice! Once tallied, your 60% will be ready by the first week of the next month.

What if nothing sells?

We of course want your item to sell, that's our goal, so we usually list an item in or shop for 2 months before either putting it up for sale or pulling it from the store to be sent it back to you. Again you decide what action, of the two, should take place.

What if I've never sold my stuff before?

No matter, new designers are always welcome! And we are a great shop to start your design / artistic career. It's a great opportunity for you to get your name out there with a reputable store.

Do you accept international consigners?

Most definitely! Send us your work! Currently all international designers are paid via Paypal in US currency.

What items do you accept for sale?

Urbindimo sells anything handmade, man-made, well made and well designed. If it's Urban, indie, modern or more (i.e. funky, fresh original, cute, even funny) then it just may fit with our style. We are always in need of apparel, jewelry, house wares, paper goods, etc. We will only accept work made from quality materials that's, again, well made.
